As a registered charity we have been in existence for 38 years. Founded in 1970,
we currently have a core strength of 50+ trained voluntary drug and alcohol workers
supported by our Chief Executive, a Management team and Project workers.
We also act as the core project co-ordinators for the following initiatives:
|
Based in Bournemouth and Poole, EDAS is staffed by a team of trained
personnel who are available to anyone whose
life has been adversely affected by drugs and / or alcohol. The service
is entirely free and confidential, offering one to one support by
appointment only.
|
|
A client lead aftercare programme that provides one to one and group support
to people who live within the Borough of Poole and are motivated to remain
abstinent.
|
|
ADCAP for Families; this is a service which supports the families or
carers of anyone who is involved in drug or alcohol misuse.
|
|
A multi-agency service for young people under the age of 19 years, living

ADCAP is a provision for clients in the Dorsetshire areas. This is a joint
initiative with Dorset Social Services, which offers community support to those
in recovery, by enabling and supporting members.
|
|
Shadows is an outreach service for all young people under the age of 21 who
live in the Christchurch, Ferndown and Wimborne Areas.
|
|
EDAS offers a free confidential service for those in East Dorset concerned
about their use/misuse of tranquilisers, prescribed and over the counter
medications and the illegal use of these drugs. Self referral is welcome
and referrals can be accepted from any source within the
Bournemouth and Poole areas.
|
|
Although services are in place to assist the adult population, many of
our young people get caught in a drug or alcohol misuse culture through
peer pressure, environmental situations, parental situations or just
through ignorance. They sometimes feel unable to get help or information
from the statutory services, their doctor, or their parents for fear of
the negative consequences. This helpline can offer free, confidential
advice to anyone with concerns.
